| Nao Brazil is a definitive col of 80's era Brazilian new wave post punk. Some of the feat artists on this rel incl Mercenarias, an all girl group w/ attitude that could be compared to the Slits, Au Pairs or Liliput. Other bands such as Chance & Fellini flirted w/ the principal local rhythm, samba, in a low tech style that recalls early Cabaret Voltaire. The musical references of nao wave were international, but the lyrics were written in Portuguese, frequently w/ liberating, poetic & political content.
